Concrete by Design Wins Concrete Surfaces Polished Concrete Award

Washington, DC (December 9, 2014) – Glenmore Park decorative concrete contractor Concrete by Design earned high honors for the company’s part in constructing a breathtaking Sydney residence with finishes that incorporate concrete, sandstone, and recycled timber.

Hanley Wood, the premier information, media, event, and strategic marketing services company serving the residential, commercial design and construction industries, has announced the winners of the fourth annual Concrete Surfaces Polished Concrete Awards. Twenty-six projects from around the world were entered in nine project categories. Over 5,800 online visitors voted in the Readers’ Choice Category.

“Concrete by Design’s project won because of the outstanding craftsmanship of owner Dallas Mexon and his team of artisans,” said Victoria K. Sicaras, editor of Concrete Surfaces. “The home includes 11 handcrafted, polished concrete benchtops, and each has its own design flare—be it cantilever, strong geometric lines, a fine polished finish, or an organic off-form look.”

The categories for the 2014 Polished Concrete Awards were based on the types of projects where polished concrete is commonly used: commercial, countertop, craftsman, educational, industrial, institutional, residential, and retail; along with one category to recognize innovation in the industry. In some categories, judges honored projects representing both new construction and repair and rehabilitation construction. This year, the judges also named both a residential and commercial winner in the Craftsman category to honor the very different scopes of work performed.
